About your archive
PawChapter is designed around a private, local archive for each dog, including memories, Preserve progress, behavior observations and everyday care records.
- Profiles, text/photo/video/audio memories, Preserve progress, Paw Signals and Dog Care Rhythm records stay in PawChapter's app-owned storage unless you deliberately export or share a copy through an export feature.
- Paw Signals and Dog Care Rhythm are private factual journals that help you notice behavior and care history; they do not diagnose health conditions or provide treatment. Dog Director and Life Book are also rendered locally on your device.
- Standard backups are free, include the current archive data and app-owned media, and are designed to move between compatible PawChapter Android and iOS builds. Password-protected backups are an optional premium feature.

- Include your PawChapter version/build if you know it.
- For crashes or exports, include your device model and operating-system version.
- For purchases or protected backups, never send card details, store passwords, verification codes or your backup password.
Frequently asked questions
How do I restore PawChapter purchases?
Open PawChapter, go to More → Small upgrades, then choose Restore / update purchases. Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple's StoreKit on iOS/iPadOS and Google Play Billing on Android; access is granted only after the applicable store reports a valid entitlement.
Permanent upgrades are intended to remain available to the store account that purchased them, subject to store verification. PawChapter Plus features remain available while the subscription entitlement is active.
What is the difference between PawChapter Plus and the permanent upgrades?
PawChapter Plus is an auto-renewable subscription that enables the premium feature set while the plan is active. Individual premium features and PawChapter Forever are non-consumable, permanent purchases.
Current pricing and billing terms are always shown by the applicable app store inside the purchase flow.
Dog Director is not exporting my film. What should I check?
Dog Director can combine up to 40 photo or video memories in one film and supports 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 formats. Make sure the selected source files are still available and that the device has enough free storage for the temporary render and final movie.
If an export repeatedly fails, send us the device model and operating-system version, approximately how many memories were selected, whether the selection included video, and whether an audio memory was used as the soundtrack.
How does the Life Book work?
The Life Book creates a printable PDF from memories you select for the active dog. You can preview the edition, choose available layout and cover options, optionally add a dedication, and export the resulting chronological keepsake. The file is rendered locally on your device and can then be saved or shared using the platform's system export/share interface.
How do PawChapter backups work?
A standard backup is free and is designed to move between compatible Android and iOS versions of PawChapter. The current format includes dog profiles, memories, Preserve progress, Paw Signals, Dog Care Rhythm records and referenced app-owned media; supported older backup generations can also be restored. Restore validates the backup before replacing the live archive on the device.
Password-protected backups are an optional premium feature and use AES-256-GCM with a password-derived key. PawChapter does not keep your backup password and cannot recover a forgotten one, so keep it somewhere safe.
What happens if I delete PawChapter or a dog profile?
PawChapter's archive is local to the app. Deleting the app removes its private local archive unless you have exported a separate backup. Deleting a dog removes that dog's associated memories, Preserve links/progress, Paw Signals, Dog Care Rhythm records and app-owned media from PawChapter, so run Archive Check if needed and create a trusted backup first if you may need that archive later.
